Alongside bespoke furniture, I have also developed an original and ‘sustainable’ style of frame making. I use locally sourced wooden debris to create ‘fallen branch frames’ that can be custom made to fit an artist's work.
Handcrafted, each frame is unique. They are designed to highlight the natural beauty of the grain and shape of the branch, keeping as much bark and exterior knots on display as possible. The corners are joined using a hardwood insert, and as such they are reliably strong and long lasting. I make these frames available via my Boy on Branch Etsy Store. Each one is sold with a hand-selected Hiroshige print, but this can easily be exchanged for an image of your choice.
I also undertake frame making in a more traditional styles. Again, influenced by Japanese woodworking, I use high-end imported hardwoods to create simple but stylish frames. I have been fortunate enough to work with a number of contemporary artists, making traditional bespoke frames which enhance the work they have on sale. I am also happy to provide one-of framing for all types of photos and work. Please get in touch with your framing requests!
